My Dog Foster Has Fleas

Dogs rock! My dog is going through a bit of a rough time at the minute because he has fleas. Foster is a Great Dane and is one of the biggest dogs in my neighborhood and right now the big guy is upset. He has fleas and I have no idea how he got them! He came in from the yard yesterday scratching like crazy and upon looking at his neck and shoulders I saw many fleas hopping around.

I have never had to deal with fleas before so this is new territory for me. I know that I need to get Foster into a flea bath but with a dog of his massive size this is not the easiest thing to do. Next I will probably have to get rid of the fleas that might be already in my home and to do this a good flea bomb is probably in order. Finally when I get rid of Foster’s fleas I will put him on a flea preventing medication such as Frontline.

I really hope this stuff works because Foster is upset.

Can I Give My Dog Benadryl for Bee Stings?

Can I give my dog Benadryl for bee stings? Yes. Benadryl is good for helping to reduce the swelling that you or your pet may have from a bee sting. It is also helpful for relieving flea and insect bites. Although, Benadryl is good for several ailments, don’t think for a moment that Benadryl is the only good thing that you can give your pet.

If you’re into a healthier, organic, lifestyle, then perhaps you should try treating your pet with a baking soda and water paste to relieve the pain and swelling that your pet may have sustained from a nasty bee sting. Baking soda is most effective in drawing out the poisons that a bee sting may produce, especially like that of a wasp or hornet.

You can mix a quarter of a teaspoon of baking soda in with their drinking water, which will benefit them in keeping their immune system in peak condition.

There are a great many things that can organically benefit yourself and your pets; which will help you help them lead a healthier, more fulfilling life, and who could ask for more than that?

Cow Epidemic – Being a Vet Isn’t a Walk in the Park

Watching TV is a public health problem comparable with issues such as ...One rule to know for all those looking how to become a veterinarian is to remember that its not all fun and games. Lets take this week for example and the latest cow epidemic vets had to deal with. Dr Waitkins is also concerned that the disease could become wider spread with cows infecting rivers with their urine.

‘It is getting into the environment and we want people to get it into their heads that this is a public health problem and they should be aware of it. In the long-term we would like to see all farmers vaccinating their cattle,’ she said.

In cattle the disease often produces infertility, low milk yields and in some cases abortion, although the meat and dairy products are not affected.

‘It is the most serious disease to hit dairy farmers since foot and mouth disease and it is certainly the biggest challenge to vets since then,’ Dr Waitkins said.

The Different Betta Types Are Interesting and Colorful

I was watching 60 Minutes last week, and they were talking about how beautiful and well preserved the Caribbean waters and reefs are compared to the rest of the oceans. They said that the biggest factor in the reefs and tropical sea life that has survived there is that they do not allow people to kill the animals or fish there like in most other places. I love sea animals, and it is hard to think that mankind has killed off almost 90% of all aquatic life on the planet in the last 200 years. I have my own fresh water aquarium at home, and it is full of different betta types that are colorful and interesting. I like keeping betta fish more than other fresh water fish because they have personalities that other fish do not have. They also have an aggressive nature, and often play and chase each other for fun.

Animal Health is Important

Looking after the health of our pets has to be one of the most important parts of responsible pet ownership, this is why the internet is such a brilliant tool. There was a time when you were reliant on your vet to supply medication and this could be quite expensive. Now you still need to go to the vet but once you know what you want you can make savings online. Not only this but you can also find out what else is available out there, things like probiotics for cats and dogs which is supplied by Animal Essentials. These supplements are great for helping your pet back to health after illness because as we all know when you have been ill there is nothing like a good tonic to help you back onto your feet. If your pet has a weakened immune system or has been on medication they may just need that little boost to get them back on top.

Where to Go to Learn About Animals

As learning goes mobile (slides) by Lee RainieThe internet is a wonderful educational tool and one which has a lot to offer people who are looking to learn about any subject, but one field where the internet is particularly effective is when people visit the wildlife site http://www.animaladoptions.org.uk. The impact that can be achieved by the excellent wildlife photography available is particularly potent, and when this is combined with some relevant information then it can be a great tutorial to those visiting the site about that area of wildlife.

As well as being effective at teaching adults about animals, many of the best websites will also have tools and games that can be used to help teach children about animals and the environment. By making the experience fun as well as educational, children are much more likely to absorb the information that is being presented and will be more likely to care and become involved with the subject.
